The A team @carlawilsondesigns with @jillmreidy @sooziewalmsley @cameron4598 &Elaine guided participants to sew the fabulous screen printed fabric from @hausfrauuk onto book bags. We feel honoured to be part of this project from the very start of consultations back in 2019 to the realisation of the project for the Mereside community.

#regram • @abingdonstudios_projectspace ⌚ 1 Week to go until we welcome the incredible @rafal_zajko to @abingdonstudios_projectspace for the launch of his new solo exhibition SLOT 🪙

Opening 21 July, 6-8pm.
Exhibition continues until 03 Sept

@rafal_zajko is a polish artist based in London, UK. His work deals with issues around the industrial past exploring its environmental impact in relation to working class heritage and queer identities. His sculptural practice incorporates diverse materials and processes, including ceramic, ventilation systems, prosthetics, and performance.

Slot comprises of a series of new sculptures and mural works commissioned by Abingdon Studios, establishing the artists first solo presentation up t'north. Zajko offers an aesthetic becoming of Blackpool as a past, present and future pleasure palace and destination historically rich in notions of progress and innovation.

The slot machine offers a realm of chance. Strategy and whimsy collide in playful yet sinister levels of frivolity, pleasure and escapism. What multiverse might we be in when viewing Zajko's Slot !?. Innuendo, sex, amusement, gaming collaborate in a queer encounter hosted in a leading location for camp and kitsch meets award winning civic engineering- Blackpool.

“Slot” will be accompanied with a short text by Sam Moore @sam.moore94
