Collection Spotlight: About Time

The next in an ongoing series of exhibitions that profile works from the Grundy collection in thematic displays. For this exhibition, works from the collection have been selected in response to the key themes of time, rest, and fragility, being explored in RA Walden’s solo exhibition. Works on display include The Amber Necklace by John Collier (1854-1934) and The Hourglass by Patti Mayor (1872-1962) wherein central to both is an object with strong symbolic meaning.

Blackpool Dance Festival

A stage adaptation of The Metamorphosis on Friday is followed by The Art of Adaptation on Saturday, a masterclass, with writer/director and Imitating The Dog co-artistic director Andrew Quick. On Sunday Jonathan Goodwin of Don’t Go Into The Cellar explores ways of adapting source material as a starting point when developing new performance pieces in Reimagining Gothic Horror.

Richard Oughton is a Blackpool based photographer documenting the Northern Soul scene for the last 20 years. Jordan Wilson is a Wigan based DJ specialising in rare Northen Soul music.

Drawing on the heritage of Blackpool’s Bathing Beauty competitions that took place on the sea front and also paying homage to the town’s rich history of drag, “STUNNING! – An Alternative Drag Pageant” – is a night for Queens, Kings and Things to dress up, show out and show off. The catwalk is open and we’re inviting you to make it yours.

Spring Fun on the Farm & Stick Man Trail

On each Saturday until 25th May, head to Ridgeway Farm to meet the Spring animals. Helen the hen has hatched three little chicks, bottle feed the lambs and take part in the Stick Man Trail.

Feel the music and move your feet in our family friendly Northern Soul dance workshop. Perfect for complete beginners – learn the moves that will get your family Out on the Floor. Workshops running throughout the day:
Workshop A: 11am – 12noon
Workshop B: 12.30pm – 1.30pm
Workshop C: 2pm – 3pm
There will be lots of movement in our Northern Soul dance class so please wear comfortable clothes and shoes! Flip flops are not recommended for this session.
Recommended for 5 – 11 year olds.
