Preview: The Producers

The plot of this musical may be about an attempt to stage a Broadway flop, but this musical was certainly no flop when it took Broadway by storm in 2001 followed by similar success in The West End in 2004. This Academy Award winning, hilarious musical has wowed audiences ever since and now it’s here in Blackpool courtesy of Blackpool Operatic Players and The Grand Theatre.

Producer, Max Bialystock recruits timid accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway’s biggest scam. Bialystock, impoverished by a string of theatrical flops, needs to persuade his admiring string of elderly, widowed backers to finance his latest production. However, his aim is to produce the worst show ever, that has the worst script ever, with the worst producer and starring the worst cast, and run away with millions. It’s a sure-fire recipe for disaster, how can they possibly fail? Well, it’s show-business and in showbiz anything can happen.

Featuring a hilarious mix of eccentric characters – including tap dancing grannies and talented pigeons- plus show stopping songs including the all-time classics Springtime For Hitler, I Want To Be A Producer and When You’ve Got It Flaunt It, this show promises an evening of entertainment and hilarity.

The Producers is on from Wednesday 13 April until Saturday 16 April. Tickets £16 – £19. For further information and to book please contact the Box Office on 01253 743343 or visit blackpoolgrand.co.uk
