Preview: ATOMOS

Atomos is a work by cutting-edge contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor.

Born in 1970, Wayne McGregor is a multi-award winning British choreographer and director, internationally renowned for trailblazing innovations in performance that have radically redefined dance in the modern era

Atomos will be coming to Grand Theatre Blackpool this May and will be a piece of truly interdisciplinary and thought provoking choreography which will question art, science and the body; through atomic collisions of movement, sound and light. Taking from its name, the work is set to build from the tiniest of units into something far more choreographically and scientifically nuclear.

This one night only Blackpool performance promises to create an experience of ancient and mythological proportion indivisible from ones memory.

The Guardian has previously referred to McGregor ‘A man as likely to work with Radiohead as the Royal Ballet or with the White Stripes as Jim Henson.’

McGregor’s work has earned him a multitude of awards including three Critics’ Circle Awards, two Time Out Awards, two South Bank Show Awards, two Olivier Awards, a prix Benois de la Danse and a Critics’ Prize at the Golden Mask Awards. In 2011 McGregor was awarded a CBE for Services to Dance.
