It is Christmas Eve and Madame scrooge is visited by three ghosts who show her past, present, and future.
This weekend House of Wingz presents a fantastically funky fresh twist on the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. The hip hop dance and performing arts school is using original language fused with explosive dance styles, spoken word, rap and an electro swing soundtrack to tell the familiar story in an original and exciting way and bring the old tale new relevance for young people in Blackpool.
House of Wingz is a Blackpool based collective of young people, emerging artists, and local creatives who have been making work in Blackpool for the past two decades.
“We are excited to share this festive story with Blackpool audiences,” says director and choreographer Aishley Bell Docherty. “Many people already know we create a very distinctive vibe with dance and movement, but this adaptation includes most of the original dialogue, so we really hope it will please lovers of Charles Dickens too.”
The show is sure to get you up on your feet dancing and in the Christmas spirit.
Madame Scrooge is at The Old Electric on the 9th and 10th December with a Saturday Matinee performance. Tickets are only £7 and are available from www.theoldelectric.co.uk
