Lowdown at Sand, Sea & Spray

With Blackpool’s urban art festival, Sand, Sea & Spray, kicking off this Friday, altblackpool will be catching up with some of the artists to give you the lowdown on what to expect.  First up, a talent whose work features at the North West Baseline Studio on Victoria Street.  He recently featured at the massive urban art festival, Upfest, in Bristol.  He’s known about town as a painter of pigeons.  His work can be seen adorning walls across Europe.   It’s the Fylde’s own Lowdown!

Why urban art?

I have always been inspired by art that is available for anyone to interact with in the public domain. This is what got me interested in spray-painting rather than more traditional painting techniques.

What’s your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement to date is a project I have just completed that is still under wraps. However, when it is revealed to the public, it will be on show to a lot of people.

Which artist inspires you?

My favourite artist at the moment has got to be Conor Harrington.

Do you have a recurring theme?

Urban portraiture.

Where would you most like to spray?

I love painting anywhere, but if I had to pick one place it would be 5 Pointz in New York

Any clues about your plans for Sand, Sea and Spray 2013?

I am going to be painting an old, wise and weathered face.

Better still, see him in his element this weekend at Sand, Sea & Spray.  Keep checking altblackpool for more artist interviews – all this week.
