Local journalist-turned crime writer Michael Davies is back with a third instalment of his Quaint Bookshop mysteries – and this time his amateur sleuths are up against the world of espionage.
From Murder With Love is the third outing for the Quaint Bookshop reading group – four amateur sleuths (Professor Stone, Bella Bourton, Lauren Sherwood and Harrison Fforde) who’ve been putting their detective-fiction habit to actual use since book one,
Murder by the Book, saw them investigate the death of their own shop manager. Book two, A Game of Murder, trapped them in a snowbound country house with more than a passing resemblance to a certain murder mystery board game. This time, they’re sent into the world of spies and secrets, and Davies has had some fun with it – chapter titles include Tamara Never Dies, The World Is Not Un Oeuf, and No Time to Diet.
“The world of espionage was just too good an opportunity to pass up.”
Davies cut his teeth as chief sub-editor at the Birmingham Mail in the 1990s before writing thrillers for HarperCollins, then pivoted to cosy crime under the MRG Davies name for publisher One More Chapter. The first two books have already built a loyal following – readers have called themselves “fully invested” in the reading group and praised the series for their “wink, twist and dash of adventure”.
From Murder With Love is out now in ebook, audiobook and paperback, wherever you get your books.
