[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Blackpool Social Club has a dedicated team of volunteer contributors who are always on the look out for pockets of creativity and culture from across the Fylde Coast, just itching to discover another hidden gem to share. We’re always on the look out for new contributors to join the team in a variety of roles so read on to find out more.

As a member of the team you’ll get the chance to go behind the scenes with creatives in the area, head to the theatre to review shows or get up close with your favourite musicians. If you’ve got your own ideas for features for the site then even better, we’re always happy to hear about them.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”29196″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Writers

If you’d be interested in writing for us then all you need to do is submit a short sample of your work. Sample articles should be between 500 and 1,000 words and be written about an event you have recently attended, an album you have recently heard or a current events opinion piece. So what are you waiting for? Get writing and get in touch.

As well as being on the hunt for writers we’re always on the look out for talented photographers to showcase their work in photo feature articles. If you’d like to get involved as a photographer send us a selection of pictures/videos you’ve taken at an event plus one or two short paragraphs of summarising the set and giving a taste of what it was all about.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

  • I was born and bred in Blackpool and lived there until I got married, when I moved to Northumberland.
Blackpool is a wonderful place which has something to offer everyone.you all should be very proud of this marvellous town with all it has to offer.

  • I’m new to Blackpool and know NOBODY. Don’t even know my way around the south end of town where I’m living, though I do know the north end fairly well. I’m only 59 and I’m still relatively fit and healthy, but I’ve been retired for 13 months now and I am at a loss as to what to do with myself. I sat down at my computer today to try and find somewhere I could go to find people I have things in common with, make friends, and maybe even find a partner, but I’m finding nothing that appeals to me and nothing for my age group or my situation. I was a writer (poet, songwriter, screenwriter, novelist and writer of non-fiction,) for many years, though not a very successful one, I was also an astrologer, but not a very successful one. And I played guitar and a little piano for a while back in the 80s. Sadly I always had to do other things to get the bills paid, but nothing I cared about or had any interest in. My spare time however was and still is full of things I’m interested in and care about. I’m very knowledgeable and I’ve been told many times I could have been a good teacher. Outside of writing and astrology my main interests have probably always been music and film / TV and I’ve always been a collector, so as well as being something of an authority, I have a series of pretty enormous collections too. One of the things I’ve specialised in is DOCTOR WHO, which I fell in love with as a little boy in the early 70s; I’ve built up an enormous DW collection, featuring books, magazines CDs, DVDs, signed stamp covers, signed photos and other stuff too . Another hobby of mine is card collecting. I have a huge collection of cigarette cards, tea cards, vintage trade cards, both loose (in plastic sleeves in ring binders,) and stuck into the original dedicated albums. My collection begins in 1901 and goes pretty much upto the present day. I also have a massive collection of postcards. The postcards are almost entirely vintage ones of movie stars but the other cards I’ve collected on all subjects, and they really do cover EVERYTHING, they’re not just mugshots of footballers. My collection of vintage cinema books and magazines is pretty impressive. I also collect Folio Society books, both fiction and non-fiction (I must have at least 400 now). Besides all this I’m interested and fairly knowledgeable on nature, science, history, geography and all the arts. All that and I’m not even looking for a job. I’m retired. I came to Blackpool looking for a quiet, comfortable, agro-free life, and that’s exactly what I’ve got now, but I’m lonesome and I don’t know what to do with myself anymore. Any suggestions?
