It’s the time of year when music lovers glance fearfully at the sky and offer suitable tokens to whatever deity they imagine might have a hand in controlling the weather. Lytham Proms is upon us and this year it can’t have escaped your attention that the man with the tan, Sir Tom Jones, is going to grace us with his gyrating presence. But there are three evenings of sterling entertainment to be had at this fifth anniversary of the Proms, just look at this line up:
Friday 1 August: 80s vs 90s
Captain Sensible
Hue & Cry
Brother Beyond
The Christians
Howard Jones
B*Witched
Atomic Kitten
Blue
Heather Small
ABC
Saturday 2 August: Sir Tom Jones
It’s Tom Jones – no other acts are required
Sunday 3 August: Hallé with Michael Ball
The Hallé Orchestra
Michael Ball
Lesley Garrett
Rhydian Roberts
Kerry Ellis
Tenors of Rock
No wonder everyone’s so excited. If you want to be there, tickets are now only available from the box office on Lytham Green, beside the windmill. You can keep up to date with the event on the Facebook page.
