For over a 100 years Lancashire has supplied some of the nation’s best entertainers from Stan Laurel and Eric Morecambe to Peter Kay. Why has the region produced so many comedians? The answer could be linked to the unique history of the Industrial Revolution in Lancashire which provided great conditions for the creation of a comic tradition. This entertaining free talk, hosted by Showtown in the Pavilion, traces the evolution of local comedy and Dr Tom Preston impersonates some of the great Lancashire comedians of the past.
