When Baz Redman and Kevin Draper from Cambs decided to set up Northern Soul Against Cancer to help raise funds for Cancer charities they asked Dave Hughes Starsnow to help organise a Northern Soul flash mob – the first of which was held in Blackpool on the promenade in front of the tower and which raised in excess of £750. Mike Sea Hughes from Blackpool provided the PA and all soulies were asked to pay £5 to the cause. High waisted oxford bags and smooth soled brogues, Lambrettas and Vespas and the sounds of Benny Troy, The Valentines, Patti and The Emblems and of course Frank Wilson’s “Do I love you?” had dancers spinning, attracted the crowds and raised money for a good cause.
