There is great news for all lovers of culture and the arts in Blackpool. Leftcoast have gone and done it again and brought something fresh, exciting and unusual to our little town. They have joined forces with Blackpool Cricket Club and are hosting a fantastic production by Wired Aerial Theatre.
Described as ‘a disaster movie in the sky’, As The World Tipped is written and directed by the eminent Nigel Jamieson, already well-known for directing the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony and widely recognised as a pioneer of outdoor performance. This stunning and dynamic piece of theatre uses powerful imagery and film clips together with breathtaking feats of aerial skill to tell a masterful and suspense-filled tale of a world on the brink of utter environmental catastrophe. Woven with humour and pathos, the story is sure to hit home with many of us as a very real issue that we all face on a daily basis, the possibility of impending ecological crisis.
“As The World Tipped is a spectacular performance, the like of which has never been seen in Blackpool before and is not to be missed,” enthused Michael Trainor, artistic director at Leftcoast, “It is a real coup for the town to play host to the show. Leftcoast is thrilled to be able to give this opportunity to residents and visitors alike during the Illuminations season.”
The show has played all over the world, including Munich, Germany and Sydney, Australia so we are indeed very lucky to be the the only host of the show in the North-West. Additional thanks must go to the Without Walls Associate Touring Network, without whom this collaboration wouldn’t be possible.
Tickets are free, so why not book today and take the opportunity to see an aerial extravaganza right here on our doorsteps. Secure bike parking will be available at Blackpool Cricket Club on both nights of the performance for those who would like to join in the spirit of the production and reduce their carbon footprint for the evening. The show is running on 27 and 28 September and the free tickets and more information are available at www.astheworldtipped.co.uk.
Please be sure to book as numbers are limited, so don’t miss out on this wonderful spectacle.
