Solid Silver 60s

Take yourself back in time to the 60s this spring. On 22 March, the thirtieth anniversary tour of the Solid Silver 60s Show kicks off its thirty date tour at Blackpool Grand Theatre.

Songs to make you sing along such as those sung by the memorable Billy J Kramer (who performed with the Merseybeats and was mentored by Brian Epstein) will feature in the show, guaranteed to make you smile. Billy J Kramer is set to release his first studio album in thirty years, I Won the Fight, to coincide with the opening evening in Blackpool. The Liverpudlian singer’s album is autobiographical. Kramer had many a hit in the 60s and was a teenage heart throb. He also recorded tracks written by Lennon and McCartney and it was John Lennon who thought it a good idea for Billy to add the ‘J’ to Billy J Kramer.

Kramer says of his appearance in the Solid Silver 60s Show, “I am delighted to be coming back to the UK with my band, The Rising. Having been touring the US for quite a while we have become like a family. To be headlining the thirtieth year of the Solid Silver 60s, which is also my fiftieth year in the business, is a real privilege.”

As well as Billy J Kramer’s appearance, other great names from the era will be guesting on stage, such as P P Arnold (The First Cut is the Deepest), Mike Pender (Sweets for my Sweet), and Chris Farlow (Out of Time). However, the real special guests for this thirty year anniversary are The Merseybeats who will take to the stage to perform their classics such as Wishin’ and Hopin’, Don’t Turn Around, and I Think of You. The Merseybeats were lucky, back in the day, to perform at the Cavern Club with the likes of The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers. This year you can see The Merseybeats at the Grand Theatre.

So, if you like to reminisce or enjoy the music of the 60s or have a thing for Billy J Kramer, this show is for you! The Solid Silver 60s Show will begin at 8pm on Sunday 22 March 2015.

Tickets are available from the box office by phoning 01253 743339 and will cost £25.50 to £29.50.
