Preview: Roll up, roll up for spectacular launch of Showzam! 2015

This year’s romance themed Carnival Ball is shaping up to be the best-ever launch for  Showzam! as weird, wonderful, awesome and amazing acts line up to provide a night of entertainment like no other.

They include Mysterieuses Coiffures, a hair sculptor from France; Abi Collins, a one-woman rollercoaster of death defying stunts; Magamus, featuring a wild acrobat and juggler; gorgeous burlesque performer Kitty Bang Bang plus highlights of the truly spectacular South American circus company Circolombia.  There are amazing silk artists Starfiz and guests will be greeted by Hocus Pocus, a sideshow of curiosities.

Music will be provided by Kumpania Algazarra, an infectious Balkan and Ska influenced band, inspired by rousing party energy and good vibrations, with added tropical heat, oriental balance, dance beats and hip-hop.  The evening will be rounded off with the uber cool DJs, The Broken Hearts. Acclaimed club host Jonny Woo will be compère.

Blackpool’s annual festival of fun, Showzam! is this year celebrating Circus and the Carnival Ball is one of the biggest nights in the resort’s calendar with more than a thousand people packing into the magnificent Blackpool Tower Ballroom for an evening of live entertainment. Because it is being held on Valentine’s Day, revellers are asked to take the romance theme ‘through the ages’ and dress from any romantic era they wish – with a prize for the best outfit.

Cllr Graham Cain, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for tourism and leisure, said: “People are going to really enjoy the line-up for this year’s Showzam! Carnival Ball.

“It really does have an incredible range of talent which is befitting of an event which has become one of the best events in Blackpool’s social calendar.”

Michael Trainor, Artistic Director at LeftCoast, said: “The Showzam! Carnival Ball is the jewel in the crown of the Showzam! Festival and is sure to be as popular as ever with this dazzling array of international circus spectacular – not to mention a lot of dancing.”

The Carnival Ball takes place on Saturday February 14 in The Blackpool Tower Ballroom from 7.30pm.  The event is strictly over 18s only.

Tickets are available priced £20 from VisitBlackpool Tourist Information Centre at Festival House on the Promenade or by visiting  www.showzam.co.uk or Tel: 01253 478222.  They are also available from the Blackpool Tower Box Office Tel: 01253 622242.

There is limited seating available on the night, so it is advised to get there as early as possible and guests are urged to book early for this event which is sure to be incredibly popular.
