Three top authors will be visiting St Anne’s later this month for an event organised by the town’s award winning bookshop, Storytellers Inc. Emily St John Mandel, David Whitehouse and Sarah Butlerย will be reading from their books, answering questions from the audience and featuring in a panel discussion chaired by a publicist from Picador.
Shop owner Katie Clapham is excited about the March 16 event at the Pavilion Cafรฉ in Ashton Gardens: “We hold five monthly book clubs and work with schools in our areaย andย regularly host visiting authors โ though this coming Picador evening is a particularly special event, with three authors appearing together โ that will be a first for us,” she said, “Itย promises to be a brilliant evening of fabulous new fiction from an exciting and diverse line-up of talented new voices โ the perfect antidote to anyoneโs reading rut.”
Award-winning Canadian-born author Emily St John Mandel’s book, Station Eleven, is described as ‘an audacious, darkly glittering novel about art, fame, and ambition set in the eerie days of civilisation’s collapse’, while novelist, journalist and screenwriter David Whitehouse’s Mobile Library is ‘quirky, dark, magical and full of heart, both a tragicomic road trip and a celebration of the adventures that books can take us on’.
Manchester author Sarah Butler’s Before The Fire is ‘a moving portrayal of a country in crisis, getting under the skin of both the issues and the people affected by them’, set in the summer ofย 2011.
The event kicks off at 7.30pm. Tickets are ยฃ10 and include bucks fizz and canapรฉs.
