Blackpool’s Friends of Stanley Park are gearing up for the new season of gigs at the bandstand and they are seeking your help to make it happen.
The fabulous free line up, which includes everything from Blackpool Youth Bands Festival to local favourites Touch the Pearl and Bob On, runs from May right through until September.
Volunteers are needed to support the gigs by marshalling crowds and helping to clean up after the events – what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
This year’s programme of gigs kicks off on Sunday 31 May with an afternoon of swing with the final event on 27 September with music from five live bands.
Elaine Smith, Chair of Friends of Stanley Park, said: “Yet again this year there are some excellent bands coming to the park for people to enjoy.
“As well as the regular array of brass and youth bands, we also have the return of the prestigious Stowe Big Band on 21 June. That will be a fantastic event that lots of people can enjoy.
“However, these great events don’t put on themselves. We need volunteers to spare us a just a few hours of their weekend to put these kinds of shows on. In return, they get to spend their Sunday in the glorious Stanley Park listening to some fantastic music.”
