Showzam! Gets Creative for the Kids for 2013.

If you have not heard of Showzam! you are missing out on something spectacular. Showzam! has been a regular feature in Blackpool and is about to enter its sixth year.  It is an extremley cool alternative magic and entertainment festival and Showzam! 2013 promises to be bigger and better than ever before with 150 performers taking part in a ten day festival from February 15th – 24th. Last year Showzam encouraged local schools to create and design headresses.  This year, a great deal of encouragement for creative kids prevails again.  All the primary schools in Blackpool will recieve a letter asking children to take part in this year’s Showzam! design competition. Children will design their very own 3D Pop-Up Showzam! character, by finding inspiration from the website and then posting or emailing their entry to Marketing Blackpool before Friday 4th January 2013.

Marketing Blackpool will choose three winning designs which will be made into a fantastic set of collectable 3D characters which will be given to thousands of children and visitors. Winners will also get a special prize of Showzam! goodies including show tickets and other Showzam! bit and bobs.

PARENTS: this is not to be missed out on!  If you have creative kids who draw, paint, use computers to make images, graphics, take photographs etc., get them on this.IMG_6183

Tickets to Showzam! are highly desirable and over the years I have seen some excellent cabaret and circus acts. It’s an excellent way to get involved with a unique and genuinely exciting festival.

Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Marketing Blackpool, said:

Youngsters play a very important role in the success of Showzam! This annual festival is entering its sixth year and we want as many children as possible to have the opportunity to enjoy the wide variety of free shows and performances on offer.

* Showzam! is a 10-day festival of circus, magic and new variety that runs every year in the resort during February, coinciding with the school half-term holidays. In 2013, the festival runs from 15th-24th February.
* This extraordinary and unique festival includes a number of high-profile performers, street artists and never before seen acts, showcased throughout Blackpool’s famous landmarks and on the streets.
* With a mix of ticketed and free events, family-friendly and adult-only shows, there’s something for everyone.  Audiences are encouraged to engage and interact with the performances as well as enjoy the workshops and talks by established industry experts.
