Interview: Eye The Bomb

Last week Blackpool based based band Eye The Bomb released their new video ‘Step Back’ and altBlackpool’s Caroline Fisher chatted to their frontman Ric Hulme to find out all about them.

Caz: Ric, are all the band members from Blackpool and how did you get together?

Ric: Yeah we are all from Blackpool, Me and the drummer Wayne have played Ice Hockey together for years and one day he told me he had a drum kit, to which I replied “lets Jam!” we then recruited Ken and our old bassist Chin from Lotus Circle.

Caz: Tell me about how you made the video and why.

Ric: I wrote the lyrics and the script for the video and we got Bobby Pook from Sumo Crucial Productions to film and edit with help from myself and Jon Stonehouse from 2Beards in the production. The idea for the song comes from a parody song me and my friend Pudz wrote about 7 years ago, Looking for new material for the band I dug out my old lyrics and reworked them for the current state of the country, to be honest i didnt have to change much because nothing bloody changes, and I guess thats the whole message behind it all.

Caz: When is your next gig?

Ric: We are supporting 2 of my personal hero’s in the industry, DJ Format from Brighton and Abdominal MC from Toronto Canada. They are on their UKreunion tour which starts this week. The gig isSaturday 14th November at Bootleg Social and tickets are £10

Caz: What do you see for the Band in the next 12months?

Ric: We had a great summer playing our first Festival, we headlined the mainstage at Bug Jam down at Santa Pod Raceway which was mind blowing for us having only gigged small pubs before hand, so If we can get anything like that next year we will be over the moon. We have plans to complete our EP over the next few months and there are talks of us going out to Canada to do an album but that is just an idea and a lot of fundraising needs to go ahead for this to happen.
