The Royal Oak on Lytham Road in South Shore will this Thursday play host to a brand new evening of entertainment ranging from comedy to music, poetry and much more besides.
The variety style performance entitled Scratch South Shore is made up of local up and coming acts and has been organised by Melanie Whitehead of the Electric Sunshine Project.
The evening is an opportunity and platform for local acts to show off their talent to the audience and to provide a more entertaining experience from just drinking in the pub for the locals especially on a boring and not so salubrious week night. This first instalment will showcase what Scratch has to offer and is pilot ahead of further shows taking place based on how it is received on the evening.
Melanie Whitehead from the Electric Sunshine Project said: “We hope to offer something new and interesting; something that’s a bit different from other nights in Blackpool. You may not enjoy every single act but there will definitely be something in the evening that will make you laugh, think or touch you in some way (and we don’t just mean by the resident drunk!)”
Whether your act is scratchy or patchy, or totally polished, the organisers of the event are looking for willing acts, or entertainers to add that extra bit of talent to an otherwise ‘non entity’ of an evening.
The bill this Thursday is a packed one and includes…
- Local celebrity poets Stephen Stroud, Ashley Lister and Steve Rowland
- Stand-up comedians have been brought together by Northwest Comedy Collective and include Adam Blaize, Adam Staunton, Marvyn Dickinson and Alana Jade
- Singer/musician Claire Eastwood
- Out-of-towners in the shape of actor/writer duo Rachel Dealtry and Aimee Berwick will be sharing a piece inspired by their experiences of working in the care industry
“The evening will be compered by a new character creation called Debbie Fenner who is a girl from South Shore who made good, moved to Poulton but since her divorce has had to move back again – although this time she’s in Lytham (well Lytham Rd) – she’ll no doubt tell you all about it in her own inimitable style!” Melanie tells me.
Ahead of Scratch there is also a Theatre Discussion Group organised by LeftCoast at the Royal Oak, between 6pm-7pm on the night.
