Blott Artist Studio presents local artist Tina Warren’s first solo exhibition.ย A Still Small Voice is a multidisciplinary show grounded in the tradition of figurative narrative painting, dealing with difficult and challenging subject matter in its literal and metaphorical interpretation.

Tina, winner of the โ€˜Great Artโ€™ prize at the Neo Art Prize 2015, graduated from Blackpool & The Fylde College University Centre with BA in Fine Art & Professional Practice in 2013, later going on to gain her MA in Art by Research at Lancaster University.

Tina’s work is evocative and menacing at the same time. Her illustrative techniques are impressive and the messages that she conveys through her visual language is compelling and sometimes disturbing.

Theย exhibition willย prove engaging and offer food for thought withย ethereal, shadowy images staring the viewer down vehemently. If you are unsure of what I mean, go see.ย Plus there isย a chance to view Tina’s work as a period of research and investigation into her practice, “a behind the scenes tour around an artists experiments” some might say.

This exhibition is the fusion and evolution of work and research carried out during this period, with the exhibition forming the basis of further research.

Blott Art Studios is situated by a huge car park where Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles once played so it is definitely worth a visit if you haven’t stepped inside before. Blackpool has an abundance of talent bubbling under, we just need to find a way to bring people together. So a rave in the car park could be on the cards. Blackpool has such a lot of cool happenings and when weย scratch the surface we find little nuggets of joy. It sounds dull but supporting local artists or alternative scenes in any sense is important to ensure that popular media does not reign supreme, it’s allowing local community to have a voice.

A Still Small Voiceย runs from 2 to 26 May and isย open daily Mon-Sat 10.30am to 3.30pm at Blott Artist Studio, 53 King Street, Blackpool. To find out more about the exhibition visit the Facebook event.
