Star Trek Film Festival enters town at warp speed

Star Trek Beyond

Whether you are a long in the jaw devotee of Star Trek raised on a diet of classic, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, or a newer entry to the Trek universe through the recent dizzyingly paced JJ Abrams films, Blackpool’s Opera House in the wonderful Winter Gardens has a treat lined up for you from next Sunday.

I’m going to avoid all Star Trek related puns in this preview as the news of a Star Trek film festival in Blackpool deserves a little more respect than that.

From Sunday 24 to the 30 of July the Opera House will be showing every single Star Trek film. Added to the entire film run there are panels and talks throughout the week and there really is something for every stripe of Trek aficionado or casual viewer.

The festival kicks off with a gala screening of the latest Trek adventure Star Trek Beyond and there are tickets available for the gala event with drinks before and an after party. I shall be of course covering this event for alt so stay tuned for full coverage.

Festival programmes are available from Winter Garden and the usual outlets, grab one and check out the dates for the various screenings and talks over the week, or head on over to startrekblackpool.co.uk for further details and to book your tickets.

The festival goes hand in hand with the Star Trek Exhibition situated on the seafront so why not make a day of it and do both?

So a round up of a fantastic week for both Trek fans and fans of great Sci-Fi cinema and not a single Star Trek pun included. See you there, you Khan-t miss it… damn, almost.
