A Grand Photographic Session

Grand Theatre

This January, a photographic opportunity for all aspiring and interested photographers will allow access to The Grand Theatre, Blackpool for a Masterclass with Sean Conboy, their official, in-house photographer to guide you through how to capture that perfect shot of The Grand’s spectacular interior.

This exciting photography opportunity is not an experience to be missed by any budding, amateur or professional photographer. To be given this level of access to the building in all it’s glory is a highly unusual occurrence.

The Grand Theatre Blackpool, is a Grade II* listed structure and boasts such elegant baroque and Italian inspired architecture by architect Frank Matcham. It was originally opened in 1894.  In 1972 the Grand Theatre was nearly demolished until a group of friends saved this beautiful theatre by transforming it into a bingo hall.  The group of friends became known as “The Friends of the Grand” and were fundamental in the Theatre’s eventual restoration and rebirth.

Tackling the interior of Blackpool’s Grand Theatre, is, in itself is a risky business due to the captivating nature of the subject matter. It can be an overwhelming experience, with so many opportunities to capture it’s elegant opulence. With gilded and painterly architecture, the Grand Theatre has enchanted many, some more interested in the dome shaped ceiling featuring cherubim, and rococo detail, than in the plays performed. It is just one of architect Frank Matcham’s gems alongside its sister structures at the Blackpool Tower Circus, and Ballroom.  Make sure you don’t miss this opportunity to hone your skills in such an inspirational setting.

Tickets are available at the Box Office from as soon as possible to book, or by phoning 01253 743339.

Sean Conboy has contact details at seanconboy.com for more information of this prestigious photographer who captivates the audience with his admiral shots of such treasure which is Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.
