Laugh Off The January Blues At The Grand

Dan Nightingale

It’s generally accepted to be the most depressing week of the year, with the return to work after and extended break for many and long dark nights and short wet and windy days for all. So if you fancy some respite why not get yourself down to the Grand this Friday for the latest incarnation of the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club.

Topping the bill is Dan Nightingale, who may be familiar to many from his appearances on John Bishop’s Only Joking on Sky. His observational comedy includes energetic characterisations and he has been on the circuit since 2002 as well as doing regular TV warm up work. You can see a short clip of his act below.

Also appearing is David Longley. Intriguingly the promotion material describes him as ‘loveable and yet somehow crude and insulting but intelligent and disarmingly funny.’ In the same vein Metro described David as ‘silly, thought-provoking and filthy’.  His deadpan accounts of everyday life are honest and accessible. You can see some of his routine below, though we should warn you, it definitely isn’t safe for work.

Finally youth gets its opportunity in the form of Jake Lambert. He has performed on Radio 2 and Radio 4, and has performed strongly in newcomer comedy awards. His act is a mixture of one-liners, short stories and original thoughts. Again, you can see an excerpt from Jake’s act below.

As ever the LOL Comedy Club is compered by Damion Larkin. Doors open at 7.30 and the show starts at 8pm.  Tickets are £15.50, and can be purchased from The Grand website or on the door. Please note that there is no reserved seating at the Comedy Club.
