A Grand Family Event This Saturday

It’s that in between time when it comes to keeping the younger members of the family artistically busy.  The excitement of Christmas and panto season has receded (oh yes it has…), but it’s still a little while until half term and the delights of Showzam! and the like.  Step forward The Grand, who this weekend are staging a Family Fun Day on Saturday.

Recent panto stars Steve Royle and Hayley Kay will preside over an afternoon of entertainment.  They will be judging a jungle character fancy dress competition with a prize including tickets to forthcoming show Running Wild.  So, get creative with the outfits.  Staying on the animal theme Farmer Parrs will be bringing guinea pigs along and some surprise guests, with the chance to enter further competitions and get discounts.

Older visitors can relax with a cup of tea whilst their charges play on the bouncy castle or plant their very own sunflower seeds, inspired by the theatre’s new Spring’s Sorted Programme including Mr Bloom and the Veggies.  The Grand will provide everything you need to plant your own veg or flower, but you are welcome to bring your old egg cartons or plastic bottles if you love to recycle.

Also during the afternoon theatre tours are available with the Grand’s heritage guides.  They will regale you with facts about the building, and you will have the chance to take a selfie on stage.

Activities are staged between 1pm and 3pm in Matcham Court, at the rear of the theatre off Corporation Street.  For further information on all the spectacular shows available and to book tickets, visit www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk or call the Grand Theatre box office on 01253 290190.
