If you have a penchant for Italian fashion and a love for all that is Mod, All or Nothing, is this coming seasons hot pick. This May, check out the show that promises a trip down memory lane for all those with ‘face’, featuring tributes to The Small Faces, who came to prominence in 1964, and buzzed the Mod scene with all that is cool. (These bands were also influenced by Rhythm and Blues, a style of music which then inspired a generation of beat and Mod).
Interpretations of the European trends copied from Italian fashion houses, like Lambretta, or the famous Vespa moped cycles, quickly caused a stir amongst most British youths. Although the dingy streets of English towns and cities were a far cry from the Italian capitals of high fashion, the ‘style’, filtered through, and soon the ‘Mod Look’, was being carried off by most teenagers here. A relaxed, yet still somewhat fairly anarchic attitude was hitting the streets, where Mods stuck two fingers up to the establishment. They changed the boring class-ridden and lack lustre culture, and created their own beat.
Carol Harrison, best known for her role as Louise Raymond in EastEnders, has created this catchy and cool production which the critics have given a definite thumbs up. In all, it’s a show not to be missed and the Stage says, “The group capture the unmistakable mix of anger and arrogance that defined the Mod sound.” All or Nothing captures the very essence of what the Mod wave was about from looking hip, or cool, down to the music of the time, and between 15-17 May 2017 at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre, you can catch this marvellous show, so book tickets soon to avoid disappointment.
