Preview: Lee Nelson

The 7th of June sees another comedian take to the famous stage on Blackpool’s North Pier theatre.

The pier, which has a rich history of performers who have called it home, has managed to secure increasingly popular funny man, Lee Nelson, who has extended his tour especially to fit in the prestigious venue. Stephen Mercer of North Pier Theatre said, “Lee Nelson is one of the funniest and most popular comedians in the country. His shows constantly sell out and his unique brand of comedy will have the audience in stitches.”

Lee Nelson, a character written and performed by Simon Brodkin, is a South London ‘Lad’ whose loud and stereotypical gags about life down the estate make for an easy laugh and has the audience on the edge on their seat, hoping not to be the next in the firing line.

This year also sees Lee Nelson in a brand new television show, set to take BBC3 by storm later on this year, called Lee Nelson’s Well Funny People.

With two successful tours under his belt, the show promises a variety of his ‘well good’ favourites such as dim -witted footballer Jason Bent and muddled medic Dr Bob; as well as a whole host of new characters.

Audience members should be prepared for lots of ‘alllllriiiiiiiight’s’, plenty of swearing and general banter from Nelson. I suggest stocking up on come backs just in case the inevitable piss-take happens.

Tickets are £22.50, available from the North Pier Box Office on 01253 623304, visiting the website www.NorthPierBlackpool.co.uk, or via the 24-hour Ticketmaster Hotline 0844 847 2452 or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
