Monday night saw the launch of the new look Grand Theatre Bar, ‘The Stage Door’.ย Artists, local councillors, Friends of the Grand and the press all turned out on a typical wet and windy Monday night in Blackpool to see the transformation from Machams Bar to The Stage Door Cafรฉ Bar.
Tucked away at the back of the theatre, the cafe has retained most of the Victorian features customers know and love. The designers, APM Designs, wanted to stay true to the theatre but bring it into the 21st century by adding a neutral colour scheme and stylish furnishings.
Local artist Robin Ross has also had a big impact on the new cafรฉ bar by providing them with ten limited edition prints for the walls. Working closely with the Grand Theatre archives, Robin has merged images, production posters and fliers from all eras to create some stunning artwork.
Robin commented:
The Grand has such a wealth of historic material, its been amazing to trawl through the collection to select the images that I have used to reflect its heritage.
The limited edition artwork will be available to buy from The Stage Door with proceeds going to help maintain the beautiful building.
