Nightmare on Elm Street is The Regent’s Halloween Spooktacular – 31st October 2018

On the night of Halloween itself, enjoy Wes Craven’s classic slasher movie ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ (1984) at Blackpool’s independent retro-cinema, The Regent. This movie has generated the legendary screen villain, Freddy Krueger, a disfigured avenger that kills children in their dreams.

With Robert Englund in the lead role, the film also stars Heather Langenkamp and Johnny Depp as the couple trying to solve the Freddy mystery, before he kills all his targets in a vicious trail of revenge.

Never likely to feature in the Oscars, this film won the USA Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films’ award for best horror film in 1985 and several other prizes.

Rated 18 and not for the faint-hearted, this is the ideal film evening for the horror film fan and is guaranteed to get you away from those pesky trick or treaters banging on your door. Sit back and be scared!

I have worked in the housing and transport professions for several local authorities, specialising in policy, strategy preparation and bid writing. Having always had an interest in film, the visual arts in general, theatre, music and lterature, I thought it would be good to combine the writing experience with these interests to contribute to altBlackpool. In addition to writing, my hobbies include watercolour and pastel painting, photography, woodwork, cycling and vegetable gardening.
