Free Workshops with Artist Kai-Oi Jay Yung at Grundy Art Gallery

Grundy Art Gallery’s annual communities and schools exhibition has this year invited artist Kai-Oi Jay Yung to create Amongst Dark Trees, A Clearing.

The show explores the idea of loss and hope with stories of an obsessive compulsive ex-hoarder and scientific treatments, meditation and the mystical chakra energy centres.

This exhibition includes a series of videos, drawings, sound responsive light installations and hand-sewn crafted works created through Yung’s engagement with schools, communities and the wider public.

 

 

  • Workshop – Tues 5th March, 2-4pm Exploring the exhibition with the artist and making a motto in thread.  These are your life sayings stitched into a beautiful pattern. (No skills needed)
  • Workshop – Wed 6th March, 2-4pm Exploring the exhibition with the artist and taking part in a meditation exercise with clinical psychologist, Helen Caird.

Workshops are free but you must book as there are only 10 places on each.

Amongst Dark Trees, A Clearing is supported using public funding by Arts Council England. This exhibition is on until 9th March, 2013.
