Alice in Wonderland at The Grand Theatre

As a photographer, I love to adventure down rabbit holes and wander through looking glasses.  When I was invited to preview The Grand Theatre’s latest ballet production of Alice in Wonderland, I was ‘curiouser and curiouser’.

On Sunday 31 March for one night and in white rabbit tradition, The Grand Theatre will be exclaiming “Don’ t be late for a very important date!” as  the incredible adventures of Alice in Wonderland unfold on the stage. All the favourite characters will be present: Tweedledum and Tweedledee, The Cheshire Cat, The White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter and The Queen of Hearts to name a few.  The stage will be filled with childlike frivolities and surreal quotations.alice in wonderland2

Lewis Carrol’s, Alice in Wonderland in its many guises and productions never fails to deliver and  its unique quirkiness has established a fervent fan base in both the young and old.

The production is brought to Blackpool’s Grand Theatre by Ballet Theatre’s UK Artistic Director, Christopher Moore. He promises that it will be a  fantastic journey through Alice’s many adventures. Ballet Theatre UK  is a dance company in the ascent.  They take inspiration from an eclectic mix of culture, developing contemporary productions and re-working classics with a modern twist.

Aiming to appeal to a wide audience. Alice in Wonderland could be the invitation for those people who may have considered the ballet but felt it too high brow.  Alice in Wonderland is sure to deliver and as the Doorknob states in the book: “Read the directions and directly you will be directed in the right direction.”alice in wonderland 3

Alice in Wonderland is on at the Grand Theatre on 31 March 2013.  Tickets start at £14 and can be purchased from the box office on Church Street or via the website.
