What’s so wonderful about living in t’north is that you often discover gems, in fact quite often.
Who in their right mind would organize regular Sunday morning cycle rides with free brews and bacon butties (that’s a sandwich) after a one and a half hour cycle ride? Who would create a dish that is as yummy as pan seared pork chop on a black pudding and apple puree mash with sauteed leeks and a cider jus? And who would follow this with the lightest, smoothest bread and butter pudding in the whole universe?
Oh go on then, I was very impressed with Jack’s Bistro and then it was wine time. Spain, Chile, South America and Argentina are just a few of the countries they source their wine from. I am heading for gastronomic heaven here.
Outside is not like most smoking and outside areas, a glorified bus shelter, no – Jack’s has an outside area with a retractable canopy, tables and SETTEES. Hello, I am now getting very excited.

I beg to differ Sir Ghost but this is no restaurant food. This is JACK’S BISTRO FOOD. That phrase seems familiar.
Anyway back to the job in hand. The vegetarian food is great and there’s free wi-fi until 6pm and later on demand. Very intelligently, Jack’s does not want all its diners on phones all night. This is a dining experience with music twice a month and terrific art adorns the walls.
