New Creative Market is coming to Blackpool

On Saturday 23rd October, Blackpool Winter Gardens will play host to a range of independent designers, artisans and creatives from across the Fylde Coast.
ย
The first of its kind in Blackpool, the marketplace will bring together more than 20 invited artists and makers, giving visitors a chance to purchase unique artworks, homeware, fashion and foodie gifts. Visitors can explore at their leisure what the Fylde Coastโ€™s talented artists and makers have to offer.
Jessie Crook from sustainable hair accessory makers That Scrunchie Brandย says:

โ€œWe canโ€™t wait to be a part of the first Blackpool Creative Market, we have been loving meeting other creatives at markets nearby and it will be extra special to be in the town centre. We hand make scrunchies and are looking forward to meeting new shoppers and showing off our brand new designs.โ€

Natalie Nicholson runsย Seamstressed, a business that produces colourful handmade quirky childrenโ€™s clothes. She says:

โ€œIโ€™m thrilled that Seamstressed will be trading at Blackpool Creative Market. Itโ€™s great that members of the public are able to support our fabulous local makers and artists at this event. Also, itโ€™ll be a great chance to meet like-minded people and maybe even pick up a few bits and pieces for myself!โ€

The market is part of Blackpoolโ€™s Heritage Action Zone project, a partnership between Blackpool Council and Historic England. The project aims to use Blackpoolโ€™s heritage to bring new and diverse visitors to the town centre, giving it a new relevance for both local communities and visitors alike.

The project centres on historic buildings and how heritage can be used to improve the look and feel of the high street by restoring and enhancing them. Thereโ€™s also a cultural programme to bring new activity to the high street and to engage local communities in creative activity. This includes setting up heritage tours, street theatre and taster workshops for local people to try out different arts and crafts. Blackpool Creative Market is part of this programme and hopes to develop into a regular town centre event where local creatives and artists can gain visibility and sell their work.

Saturdayโ€™s market is a great chance to browse stalls packed with hundreds of unique gifts, homewares and artworks at prices to suit all pockets. Shoppers can get a head start on finding Christmas gifts without having to worry about shipping delays; plus theyโ€™ll be supporting local independent artists and businesses that make Blackpool town centre unique.
Blackpool Creative Market takes place from 10am – 5pm on Saturday 23 October. It is now at Blackpool Winter Gardens due to a forecast of high winds.
