Tramshed inclusive theatre is currently seeking new Trustees for their Board
This is a fantastic opportunity to help realise their strategic vision; securing their future and the important role they play in the community for years to come.
TramShed is an inclusive theatre company based in Blackpool with members across the Fylde coast and beyond. TramShed were established in 2005 and pride ourselves in offering the highest standard of inclusive performing arts workshops, performances and training. You would be joining our registered charity at a significant time, as they have recently been shortlisted for a National Diversity Award and are about to celebrate our 15th Anniversary.
Who they are looking for
They are particularly interested in those with experience in finance, fundraising & development (income-generation) and PR. They would also like to bring trustees onto the Board with specific arts experience whether as a performer, practitioner, or manager – especially those who’ve worked directly with innovative theatre companies, contemporary practice or in outreach/theatre in education programmes.
They are committed to broadening the diversity of our Board of Trustees. Although they welcome all applications, the Board is under-represented in relation to the profile of the community they serve and they would encourage people from the following areas of protected characteristic groups to consider applying: people of colour, residents from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, people with disabilities (including ‘invisible’ disabilities or neurodiversity such as autism and dyslexia), young people (under 26) and LGBTQ+ residents.
Time commitment
This role requires a commitment of approximately two-three days per year.
You will be required to attend five Board meetings per year, each lasting 2 to 2.5 hours; this includes the TramShed AGM. You will also be required to attend one away day meeting per year, to help shape strategic documents. The Board meetings take place at 6pm on an agreed week-day evenings at Woodlands school in Blackpool or via Zoom.
Expenses
This is a voluntary role, without a salary, but reasonable expenses incurred in relation to the role may be claimed back from TramShed Theatre Company. These include: travel, phone calls, childcare or care of other dependents whilst attending meetings.
Eligibility
Candidates need to be at least 16 years of age. To ensure the organisation remains independent, candidates must not:
- Be a current employee
- Candidates must be legally eligible to become a Charity Trustee and Company Director, i.e. you must not:
