Student filmmakers from Blackpool School of Arts are set to premiere their graduation films at a special screening this Thursday.
Students from the BA (Hons) Filmmaking degree course have organised a special public event at Viva Blackpool to showcase their work. The screening event will include a diverse range of short films on a variety of subjects. Included in the programme is a comedy about a man with a curious affliction, a gruesome high school horror, a documentary about a local acting troupe, a hauntingly visual experimental film, an animation and a music video.
For the last 3 years, the Filmmaking students have been developing their technical, analytical and creative skills under the guidance of specialist tutors. They’ve completed a range of projects, making use of Blackpool School of Arts’ TV studio, digital editing and filming facilities to develop their expertise and produce creative, informed, and visually engaging films.
Course leader Gaby Wills says: “The students have worked so hard, under the difficult circumstances presented by Covid, over the past three years to develop their film making skills. We’re looking forward to sharing the fruits of their labour with the local community.”
If you’re into film and want to support home grown talent, make sure that you pick up a free ticket for the showcase event at 7pm on Thursday 28 April.
