This Friday sees the return of De Palma after their marathon three day debut over the Easter weekend. With cheeky Steve Fairhurst on bass (ex Ska Faces, Pink Torpedoes, Crackous Rockanroll) Stuart Hill on vocals (ex – Switzerland, Crackous Rockanroll and more recently Section 25), the irrepressible Tommy Couch on drums (also with One Way System/Pink Torpedoes and more) Rob Hulme on guitar (ex – original Stiff Richard line up), boogie woogie Mike Taylor on Keys and of course Angel Hernandez on Sax (who is still with Ska Faces) they promise to deliver dirty reggae and deliver they do.
De Palma cover Bob Marley, UB40, The Specials, The Beat, Amy Winehouse, The Bangles, The Members, and Madness. It’s an eclectic mixture of the classics and the unexpected with infectious beats and catchy choruses.
Their tag line is ‘If you like Ska Faces you’ll love this’. Like Ska Faces they bring an assortment of Ska and Reggae classics but with a rougher, tougher, more playful and relaxed sound to the well polished Ska Faces, if this sounds like a bad thing please be assured that it isn’t. Their raw edginess make for a brilliant and fun atmosphere.
