Loose Articles invite you to join them on their musical journey on Saturday 25th February at Bootleg Social. The all-female Manchester quartet specialise in discordant, hypnotic repetition, tales of nights out, and radical politics.
Loose Articles will share the secrets of what it’s really like to be successful in the male-dominated genre of punk music. If you are female or identify as female, you can go along on Saturday to shadow the band and their crew at sound check, and ask as many questions as you like afterward. In return. They will add your name to their VIP LAFC club and you and a guardian/friend will be placed on their special VIP guest list that night for the show. These special VIP tickets are free and will be limited to 20 people on a first come, first served basis.
Giving inclusive, intimate access and entry-level insights into the music industry whilst supporting grassroots venues and northern creatives, the band invite you to join them on their musical journey, and will be sharing the secrets of what it’s really like to be in their shoes.
Aimed at primarily engaging young women (14 – 25) from backgrounds and groups who typically aren’t represented in the music industry, the band will illuminate the pathways into the often male-dominated music scene with community outreach locally via the Lancashire Music Hub.
Commenting on the project, the band say: “Music is such an important way to connect with people and get your voice heard, particularly when it’s in a grass roots music venue where you live. As northern women we have so much important stuff to say and a different point of view to offer. With this tour we really want to build a community with people like us, and show young women (and men) in the north west that the music scene isn’t just for boys.”
You will continue to be part of their music industry journey with early invites to tours, given the opportunity to join a gig buddy scheme, and attendance at special events, and will be signposted to music industry opportunities that are happening locally. The LAFC club is a group of strong, like-minded, music-obsessed females, and they want you to join them.
Loose Articles are a punk quartet with plenty to say. Their music speaks to all those determined to get through the age of austerity with tongue in cheek, and two feet firmly on the dancefloor. Plying repetition (repetition, repetition…) with ragged edges and a sardonic, sarcastic drawl delivered with a fierce, in-your-face, punk-fuelled attitude, both feminine and threatening, Loose Articles are here to make a point.
Support for the band to date includes; Wall of Sound (Radio and PR) on board in the UK, with support in Europe from Fleet Union (Germany). They are already heavily championed by Steve Lamacq at BBC 6 Music (where they’ve also seen strong support from Chris Hawkins, Tom Robinson, and Amy Lamé) the band has also picked up love from John Kennedy at Radio X, appearing on the Evening Playlist, and appeared on Spotify’s The Punk List.
Elsewhere they’ve featured on the NME 100 lists, endorsed by punk-friendly fashion labels Fred Perry Subculture and Underground England, named as one of Under The Radar Magazine’s 22 for 2022, and have appeared on BBC One’s Football Focus as keen amateur pundits and fans of the beautiful game. Kick Like A Girl was released around the Women’s 2022 Euros, with Shoot Music supporting key sporting playlists – alongside a request from Dave Grohl to support the Foo Fighters in Manchester.
LAFC is an inclusive fan club with exclusive merch, a WhatsApp group, big days out and a way for an expanding network of fans to get involved with the band. They’re also looking to sponsor Glasgow United FC (a progressive football team who supports refugees and the disaffected) for a game.
