Women are being invited to connect with their creative selves by taking part in free creative movement workshops in Blackpool this April and May.

Reclaim You is an opportunity for women to move, connect and express themselves, using a combination of engaging creative prompts. As well as thoughtful and expressive movement and wellbeing activities, the workshops are an opportunity for women to explore their creativity in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

Hannah Dial is a local dance practitioner who will be leading the workshops along with Rosie Watt. She said: “If you’re interested in exploring your creative side, or you want to connect with others in a supportive and fun environment, then I encourage you to come along and give it a try – you never know where it might lead!”

The workshops are supported by Dance Consortia North West and Lancashire Women and are part of a growing programme of events hosted by Reclaim Blackpool – the project mapping sexual harassment in the town. Reclaim’s events are designed to hold space for and empower women. Sessions will encourage self-expression, reflection, embodying who we are and connecting as a group.

“We’d love for these workshops to potentially feed into a longer term creative project, so we are super keen to meet women who want to reconnect with themselves and build their confidence,” said Dial, who is also involved in Reclaim Blackpool’s activist women’s group.

The workshops will take place at The Old Electric’s theatre space. Two workshops are planned, with the first happening this coming Monday. Women are encouraged to book on to one or both workshops and to wear comfortable clothing they can move in.

Reclaim You is on Monday 24th April 1-2:30pm and Friday 19th May 12-1:30pm at The Old Electric, Springfield Road. The workshops are free to attend. To book a space, text your name and the date you would like to book to: 07762 750193.
