Creative callout: Showtown seeks artist for Abingdon Street Market

Showtown, the new museum for entertainment, is commissioning an artist to create a large-scale artwork in Abingdon Street Market which is currently undergoing renovation and is due to open this Spring.

The artwork will be displayed across three walls in the market and will be an homage to Showtown – including its brand identity, logo and colour palette. Designs should represent Blackpool’s entertainment heritage and reflect the galleries featured in the museum – shows, circus, magic, dance, illuminations and seaside. The design must also incorporate three A3 poster spaces.

The walls are all 2.8m high, two are 4.9m wide and another 2.7m wide. Turnaround is extremely tight – with a deadline of 12th May for proposals and work will begin on 19th May.

The poster frames don’t necessarily need to go on wall three.
