It is impossible to go anywhere these days without someone having a camera in their pocket. Every mobile phone has one, and as a recent TV advert for Apple’s iPhone shows, people are not shy in using them.
So with this many pictures being taken, where is the market for professional photographers? The answer is, quality. Just because folks can push a button and apply an Instagram filter, this does not make them a good photographer. It doesn’t help them capture character, emotion, style and mood. All the toys in the world can not help you capture to beauty of a product or the warmth of a mother’s love for her child. That takes skill, and Hannah Farquhar from Fleetwood has those skills in abundance.
Her ability to capture the moment landed her the ‘Northwest Professional Photography Award’ in the Non-Member Open Category, a great honour indeed. From looking at her work you can see that Hannah has an eye for the shot, a natural talent that mixes ambiance with detail. Her use of light helps enhance mood and in photographing a smile, she manages to freeze that moment of joy held behind the eyes.
At 21 years old, Miss Farquhar has a glittering career ahead of her.
