Connect & Collaborate: Blackpool Filmmaker Social

Following the popularity of their previous networking event, Blackpool Film Festival is hosting another exciting filmmaker mixer, this time at the Rhythm & Brew Room.

Networking is a vital element in building a successful career in independent filmmaking. Whether it’s forging new connections, learning from industry professionals or assembling a team of creatives to bring a project to life, attending industry events offers invaluable opportunities to develop a filmmakers career and unlock new career possibilities. However, breaking into these circles can often feel like a challenge.

While film festivals and networking events are growing in number across the UK, they are still often concentrated in major towns and cities. Filmmakers are frequently required to travel to access these career-boosting opportunities. While expanding your network outside your local area is beneficial, it can also mean that smaller filmmaking communities have fewer chances to grow as a collective and develop their own unique voices.

We all know that Blackpool is a vibrant cultural hub buzzing with creative energy and as the local filmmaking scene continues to thrive, Blackpool Film Festival (BFF) has committed to providing more frequent opportunities for local talent to connect, share stories and meet future collaborators.

Their previous mixer event, held during BFF’s 2024 festival weekend attracted over 30 local filmmakers and industry professionals to the Backlot Cinema for an evening of creative inspiration and collaborative possibilities. The BFF programme also saw the return of the Short Film Competition, spotlighting both emerging and established filmmakers from across the globe – including the short film, ‘Keep The Faith’ (dir. Charlene Jones) set in and filmed right here in Blackpool.

For their upcoming social event, BFF is heading to the much-loved Rhythm & Brew Room, the home of Blackpool’s only brewery. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and eclectic mix of live music performances (as the name suggests), this historic local venue is the perfect spot for an evening of relaxed networking and creative conversation.

Whether you’re an established industry professional, aspiring filmmaker or just keen to meet other Blackpool-based creatives, join BFF from 6pm – 8pm on Thursday 10 April for this informal opportunity to connect with others who love to make film right here in Blackpool.

Tickets to this event are free, so make sure to secure your place now by booking your tickets here
