Famous for her vintage fairs and bringing together super bespoke “rooty tootinness” to Blackpool. I caught up with Dotty Delightful in her new abode to discuss her latest incarnation.

Claire: Tell us all about your new venture, where the idea came from and where you are based?

Dotty: Our new and different shopping centre is at 277 Church street, Whitegate Drive end, on the ground floor is Eclectic, selling all sorts of furniture from different era’s and different styles, items for the home, collectables and antiques.

Claire: What delights can we expect on our arrival? I believe there are a number of collaborations in there – tell us about them.

Dotty: On the first floor will be Dotty’s Delightful Emporium selling all sorts of vintage, retro, unusual and hard to find items, art, vinyl, furniture, homewares and more. There are rails upon rails of wonderful vintage clothes for men and women from different local vintage businesses: such as Walk Vintage, The Vintage Wardrobe and ย Emporium, ย you will be spoilt for choice. There will be a ‘wants’ book too, in case you need a certain item sourcing. Tea and coffee in fine chinaย  and cakeย is provided for customers free of charge.

On the second floor you will find Handmade Heaven, a wonderful attic filled with handmade delights and glorious haberdashery, there will be various craft classes held including felting, hand embroidery, dress making, toy making and more, one to one sewing tutorials from how to use your machine and basics to more advanced sewing, stitch and bitch on Wednesdays, evening classes and fabulous fabric.

We wanted to bring something different to Blackpool, Manchester has Afflecks, Blackpool has us!

Claire: I heard on the grapevine that you could be featuring vintage weddings – tell us all about that?

Dotty: We areย moving into ย vintage wedding packages for brides to be. We have carefully sourced some wonderful wedding dresses and we hire out vintage china, old suitcases, typewriters and other artifacts to compliment that “quirky” wedding feel.ย Plus weย  are making bespokeย vintageย inspired invitations, ย handmade hair pieces and lots more.

Claire: Anything special that we should know about?

Dotty: Our workshops have become so popular we have had a change around in store and have now dedicated a big room for workshop use. We run a variety to choose from: on Sundays and Thursdaysย  and we have launchedย an after school craft club for children on Fridays.ย Something to look forward to will be ladies vintage shopping nights with hair and makeup tutorials, tips from stylists and of course lots of cake!

Claire: What’s next on the agenda for Dotty, whens the next event and how can we stay up to date with all things Dotty?

Dotty: Weย have two big fairs coming up this year, 12th & 13th is a handmade and vintage fair as part of the Blackpool Music festival and then our Christmas fair in December, both in the winter gardens, both with vintage tearoom and full entertainment and its free entry!
