Preston-based artist Iain.H.Williams collaborates with Brendan Shaw in a new joint exhibition titled Place & Process, now showing at The Gallery Space at Blackpool & Fylde College. The exhibition brings together new and recent works by both artists, exploring a shared interest in experimentation, printmaking, and the role of process in shaping a sense of place.
Through a mix of traditional and digital print techniques, the exhibition creates a visual dialogue between local and international locations. Each artist approaches place differently, yet both are united by a process-led methodology that allows material, technique, and intuition to guide the work. The result is a body of work that reflects how environments are observed, remembered, and reimagined through making. As part of the exhibition programme, a special event titled “In Conversation” will see both artists in discussion with Andy Walmsley of Preston’s Wash Films / The Artistry House. The event will explore the ideas, processes, and collaborations behind the exhibition, alongside wider reflections on creative practice.
“As a Preston-based artist, it feels important to keep building creative conversations across Lancashire. Showing this work at Blackpool & Fylde College — where my own journey began — feels like a full-circle moment “ says Iain.
The project is delivered in conjunction with Blackpool School of Arts, Wash Films, Creative Lancashire, Conversations In Creativity and Design LSC.
Place & Process offers an engaging exploration of how artists use process to navigate memory, location, and experience, and promises to be a lively and insightful event for artists, students, and the wider public alike.
In Conversation takes place on 23 February, 4.00–5.30pm, in the main gallery space at Blackpool & Fylde College. Tickets are available via Eventbrite. The exhibition continues until 27th February.
