Kicking off Blackpool Pride celebrations in style, Aunty Social invites audiences to an interactive evening of cosy crime, camp chaos and audience sleuthing.
Cult hit event Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote is being brought to Blackpool by Aunty Social, with an interactive screening of the classic episode Paint Me a Murder at Bootleg Social on Thursday 4 June. Jessica Fletcher is invited to the remote island hideaway of an artist friend (played by Cesar Romero), but soon there’s a murder that only she (or perhaps you!) can solve.
Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote is a unique and hilarious night featuring games, prizes and audience participation, with special permission from NBC Universal Television. The show has been rated by Time Out as one of 50 Great Nights Out in London. It has also played to sell-out audiences across the UK, Ireland, the USA and Australia, as well as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023-2025, Adelaide Fringe Festival 2025 and the Murder, She Wrote Festival 2025 (California).
Hosted by super-fan Tim Benzie, Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote features a race to solve to the crime, via the Fame-o-meter and the Suspici-o-meter, a Cabot Cove quiz, a singalong theme tune with new lyrics and clips and biographies of the campy guest stars.
Tim Benzie is obsessed with Murder, She Wrote, having watched the original series when it was first broadcast, and now relishing the repeats on television everywhere. An award-winning playwright and co-writer of the Royal Vauxhall Tavern’s 2017-2024 pantos, including the Offie Award-Winning Tossed in 2023. He is also the co-producer of the camp club night PopHorror, making him the perfect host for this evening of silly sleuthing.
As this event is on Thursday 4 June, organisers Aunty Social thought this camp tribute to cheesy daytime cosy crime would make an excellent start to the Blackpool Pride celebrations. Join in celebrating all the things we love about JB Fletcher and Cabot Cove and help figure out who did it.
“A must-see for fans of Murder, She Wrote, but a great pick for anyone looking to kick back and have a fun, friendly and occasionally bitchy evening of interactive tv.” 4½ stars The SMU Review
