Whether landscape, wildlife, portrait or street photography, Poulton Photographic Society is inviting residents to submit their favourite images to its annual free photography competition.
Poulton Photographic Society is inviting Fylde Coast residents to enter its annual photography competition.
Entry is free, open to anyone over 18, and photographers can submit up to four images on any subject. Every entry will be professionally printed and displayed as part of the Society’s Annual Exhibition at Poulton Library from 1-14 August.
For sixty years, Poulton Photographic Society has been a creative home for image makers across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. Founded in Poulton le Fylde in 1966, the Society has grown into a vibrant, welcoming community where photographers of every level, beginners to award winners, come together to learn, share and be inspired.
As one member put it, “Photography is a great hobby… there is great satisfaction in producing great photographs.” That spirit has shaped the Society’s culture for decades. Whether using a mobile phone, tablet or high end camera, members discover new skills, stay active, and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating images that resonate with family, friends and fellow photographers.

The past year has been one of exceptional success. Poulton Photographic Society placed second, by just a single point, in the Martin Avery Trophy, a prestigious creative photography competition involving clubs from across Lancashire. The Society also qualified to represent Lancashire and Cheshire Clubs in a national competition taking place this July.
In March, the Lancashire and Cheshire print competitions brought further triumph: PPS won all three sections, Colour, Mono and Nature, earning the coveted title of Print Club of the Year. Individual honours followed too, with Richard O’Meara named Lancashire and Cheshire Clubs Photographer of the Year.
Entries to the photo comp should be emailed to [email protected] by 4 July 2026, including name, postcode and image titles. The winning entrant will receive a year’s free membership of Poulton Photographic Society. Members meet every Thursday at 7.30pm between September and June at Poulton Methodist Church.
For those considering joining, there has never been a better time. New members signing up between June and 3 September can enjoy half price membership—equivalent to just 80p per session for the 2026/27 season. Beyond the competitions and accolades, PPS offers something even more valuable: a warm, supportive community where creativity thrives.
