Nobulus, an award-winning Austrian dance crew, bring their critically acclaimed production, Out of The Shadow, to Blackpool’s Grand Theatre.  Out of The Shadow is an extraordinary mix of breakdance, popping and locking, contemporary dance, acrobatics and ballet.

It tells a cautionary tale which moves from the creation of the Universe and the evolution of man through to an imaginary apocalyptic future. Using only their bodies, this 10-strong crew creates scenes by cleverly morphing themselves into structures, creatures and even machines.  The whole thing is set to an epic soundtrack which combines classical and original contemporary music.  This is a piece of dance performance that will thrill and delight all the family.

Nobulus has its roots in the B Boy (breaking or break dance) crew Moving Shadows, established in 1998 in Salzburg, Austria. In 2007 the crew renamed themselves Nobulus.

Nobulus’ priority in the creation process is to tell stories that create an engaging theatrical experience. They experiment to find new stylistic devices to create and develop their work for audiences.

Under the artistic leadership of Alexander Wengler, the company includes some of the most talented dancers from across Europe. As a crew they have been successful in competitions, commercial engagements and music videos. These include Battle of the Year International and TV commercials for Red Bull, PUMA, Opal, ONE and T-Mobile and the Robbie Williams Lovelight video.nobulus

Nobulus was awarded the Prize for Cultural Commitment in 2007 by the City of Salzburg, Austria, and Out of the Shadow has been performed to audiences in Germany, London and San Francisco, receiving critical acclaim.

Out of the Shadow comes to the Grand Theatre on Tuesday 5 November 2013. Tickets £11.50 Full, £8.50 Concession, £7.00 Schools. Call the box office on 01253 74 33 39 or visit blackpoolgrand.co.uk
