Fracking (shale gas exploitation) is a topic that’s being discussed up and down the Fylde Coast at the moment.ย The Happy Mondays, Big Country, Bad Manners, Toyah Wilcox, and Alabama 3 are lined up to play at an anti-fracking gig in Fleetwood on 1 June.ย The Telegraph has been commenting on the direction of donations from fracking companies to art and education establishments in the area.ย And when Radio Wave conducted a survey in October, they found that three quarters of the 450 people who responded were opposed to the practice.
It’s hardly surprising then that when energy minister, Michael Fallon, came to the Winter Gardens to discuss the shale gas supply chain, the protestors came out to show their opposition.ย Altblackpool’s Dawn Mander was on hand to capture some images of the opposition movement.
