Venn Projects first exhibition of 2014

Venn Projects is to open its first show of 2014 this week at FYCreatives. The three way partnership between Supercollider, The Lucky Jotter and FYCreatives is this month welcoming Squirrel & Tiffin to the Church Street gallery space.

Opening on Thursday 13 February from 6-8pm and fresh from their recent Arts Council funded project in the old Disney Store on Victoria Street, Squirrel & Tiffin will have work on display throughout the month. Linzi Cason, the brains behind Squirrel & Tiffin, will be on hand to talk to you about ideas, her story so far or to demonstrate some of the techniques she has learnt.

But that’s not all.  Next month, Venn Projects will welcome independent artist Alice Bradshaw, with her Museum of Contemporary Rubbish exhibition. Alice will be photographing Blackpool rubbish to create a professional archive and create postcards and a newspaper for her national project.

We caught up with two of the three minds behind Venn Projects to find out more.

Joseph Pegler from The Lucky Jotter said:

Being a part of Venn Projects is a great chance for us to be more physical than an online platform. It gives us a space to experiment with shows and connect more.

Garth Gratrix from FYCreatives said:

Having FYCreative involved in a cultural partnership best showcases how Blackpool Council can work alongside independently run initiatives to engage audiences and continue to raise visibility and opportunity for creative practitioners and businesses.

It’s great to see this fantastic space being used on a regular basis – so here’s to a 2014 packed with exhibitions from Venn Projects.

Squirrel & Tiffin exhibit at FYCreatives from February 13 to 7 March 2014 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Private viewing is 13 March from 6pm to 8pm. Workshops with Linzi from Squirrel & Tiffin take place 19 and 26 February and 5 March from 10am to 3pm. For more information please visit the Facebook Event.
