David Simper0 CommentsVisual Arts & Exhibitionsacrylic painting, art exhibition, blackpool art scene, hand painted, oil painting

The HIVEArts gallery above the HIVE coffee shop in Church Street continues to deliver a steady stream of top notch exhibitions. Currently Dave Naden's excellent oils and acrylics occupy the first floor gallery, until 15th August 2026. Dave Simper bused down to join the weekly HIVE jive get together and took in Dave's work, finding time for a brief chat about it. I had viewed Dave's work on several previous occasions and was well aware of its quality. Without being twee, these are paintings that people will actively look to have on their lounge walls. Walking into the gallery the…

Exhibition preview: Join the Dance

David Simper0 CommentsVisual Arts & Exhibitionsart exhibition, Blackpool, blackpool arts scene, oil painting, painting, silk painting

This excellent show is a joint enterprise between the Mrozowska family – Monika, Alicja and Hubert at The Hive on Church Street. I toddled down for a peek at this excellent work on the 2nd March 2023. The exhibition is built around a quote from self-titled 'philosophical entertainer', Alan Watts: "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance". It was indeed time well spent to view this excellent work. As usual I am left jealous of this artistic virtuosity. Just the compositions would be beyond me. A…

After managing to fix the family meal after work, I made the 18:38 bus down to town and to view this fine exhibition among pleasant company at Tea Amantes. These are big works and finely painted with pastel but quite intense shades. I'm afraid they wouldn't fit into our little house (our long gallery is full already). Katarzyna is a Blackpool self-taught artist who has been working in oils and acrylic for over twenty years. Her work aims to project positivity and to focus on life's highs. She says that 'a love-centric approach and a pursuit of internal balance bring…

Anna Ravliuc-Bloomfield presents her stunning art exhibition ‘Distance of Transformation’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] This will not be an easy review to write, because the stunning beauty of Anna Ravliuc-Bloomfield's work cannot be encapsulated in words. Anna's is probably the most impressive art exhibition I have ever seen, and it's right here in Blackpool, at the Tea Amantes tearoom and gallery on Albert Road. Named Distance of Transformation, everybody at this show's private view (7th April 2022) was a creative and jaws were just hanging down (I now look at my puny efforts with close to shame). The colour palette, brush work, composition and the themes of these paintings are all incredible. Subjects…
