There’s not long to go until Eaglefest kicks off for its third year. Beginning in 2011, the local music festival, which is held in Cleveleys, originally began when guitar teacher Phil Roberts passed away.ย Eaglefestย began when one of Phil’s guitar tuition pupils said he wanted to do a performance to raise money for the people who had helped Phil. It initially started out as a small event for family and friends but grew and grew and Eaglefest was born. In 2011 they raised over ยฃ5,500 and this money was donated to the Christie NHS Foundation Trust and the Blackpool Victoria Hospital Hematology Unit.

This year’s event will be held at The Golden Eagle, on Warren Drive in Cleveleys, over two days and includes a varied line up of local and up and coming musical talent as well as attractions and events for familes with fairground attractions, games, live music, bars and raffle prizes.

Headlining this year are Kudos on Saturday 19 July and The Cobras on 20 July.

Saturday’s line up: Shiver, Dirty Work, Rupert Fabulous, Jekyll, The X Rays, Sonic Jam Project, Alpha State of Mind, April Keen, Catch 22, Akin, and Leoni Jane Kennedy.

Sundays line up: Power Trip, The Atmospherics,ย Shakers Blues Band, Paul “The Hat” Luke, The People,ย  Zebra X, Belvadere, Insomnia, Montagu, Lithium Glass Road, Avishek and John Banks.

Eaglefest’s chosen charity this year is Joe’s Dream To Walk. The charity supports a little boy who is a four and was born with Cerebral Palsy which affects the muscles in his legs, making standing or walking impossible without aids. There is a life changing operation available called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) which isn’t available on the NHS. The operation will release the stiffness in Joe’s legs, allowing his muscles to move more freely an anย intensive physiotherapy regime will be needed in order to strengthen his muscles.

Whilstย Eaglefest will be collecting donations all through the weekend,ย  you can donate to Joe’s page right now by visitng his Just Giving page or by texting JOES57 ยฃ2/ยฃ5/ยฃ10 (depending on how much you would like to donate) to 70070. If you can help out with more significant funds then please get in touch with Joe’s family via his Facebook page or email them directly at: [email protected].

I have been lucky enough to catch a number of the acts featured at Eaglefest and know that the atmosphere and sound brought to you by acts such as Jekyll, April Keen, Leoni Jane Kennedy, The Atmospherics, The People and Belvadere are of an exceptionally high standard and you are bound to catch acts that are on the rise and could be discovered any time soon.ย  It’s a weekend you won’t want to miss.
