North Pier Live!

The organisers of Lytham Live have had a few venue problems this year and the event has been moved to The North Pier, Blackpool, under its new title North Pier Live! From the amazing line up, it would appear that Lytham’s loss is to be Blackpool’s gain. This weekend of music takes place on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 August in the theatre on the iconic North Pier.

Headlining Friday’s show is the popular X Factor winner Matt Cardle. His debut single, When We Collide, was the 2010 Christmas number one and the second biggest selling single of the year, making him one of the UK’s best loved artists. His recent album, Porcelain, and sold out tour have seen his popularity grow and grow. His live performances, which are described as ‘something else’ are something for the whole family. To have an artist of this calibre is fantastic both for Blackpool and the pier.

Also featured in the night’s line-up is Irish singer/songwriter Janet Devlin, who, despite having little previous singing experience, finished fifth in 2011’s X Factor. Britain’s Got Talent finalist Harry Mondryk, formerly part of boy-band ReConnected is also making an appearance. Also appearing is James Smith, the fifteen year old who wowed audiences on the same show just a few months ago. UK three piece music group, Sam and the Womp, who describe their music as a mixture of traditional Balkan with modern electronic, and are best known for their no. 1 smash hit Bom Bom, and new band, Rothwell complete Friday night’s show.North Pier Live

Saturdays’ stars are recently crowned Britain’s Got Talent winners, Collabro. This popular musical theatre group, who are due to release their debut album on August 18, have had a whirlwind few months since winning the show. By taking musical theatre tunes and performing them in their own special way, the lads are bringing musical theatre to audiences who may not have previously had the opportunity to experience the magic of the musicals. Speaking of the group, which is only making a handful of live appearances in the lead up to performing at the Royal Variety Performance, coming to Blackpool, a North Pier Live! spokesman said, “It’s like winning the lottery jackpot.” I would have to agree. Supporting Collabro will be Britain’s Got Talent runner up Lucy Kay. This talented, popular opera singer has been predicted to be the country’s next top soprano.

Also performing are singer/songwriter Denise Pearson, best known as the lead vocalist in Five Star, 2011 BGT winner Glaswegian singer/songwriter Jai McDowell and vocal group Voce, which is Italian for voice.

In addition to the opportunity to experience two nights of great music, the event is also an opportunity to help North West Air Ambulance as the organisers are trying to raise funds for this vital service. To assist with this the tickets are extremely affordable, priced at just £10 for under 18s and £12 for adults for Friday’s show and £20 for Saturday. The organisers say this “will enable as many people as possible to appreciate these A class artists”. If you want to buy tickets my advice is to get them early, I have a feeling they will sell out fast.
